Online Tutor Subtleties - 6.001

There are some subtleties, limitations, and suggestions for using the 6.001 online tutor that you may need to or want to know about.

Multi-part Problems
In multi-part coding problems, the following appears to be the behavior of the tutor:

Based on this different behavior between "check" with some windows closed, and "submit", we recommend that you use the tutor preferences to " Open all parts of multi-part problems".

Okay when "Check" but error when "Submit"
You should be aware that on some problems, the test cases are generated randomly. So each time you check or when you submit, you may get some random test cases that were not previously seen. In addition, see note above on multi-part problems for another potential source of different behavior between check and submit.

"Next Problem" Button
When you are working on lecture exercises, be aware that the "next problem" button may skip an intervening set of lecture slides and take you right to the exercises for the next or later lecture part. The work-around is simply to be aware of this, so if the problem looks unfamiliar you may want to go "Back to Lec".
